Terms of use
Last updated October 19, 2026
These terms cover your use of Teach Playbook at teachplaybook.com, operated by Teach Playbook LLC (“Teach Playbook”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Teach Playbook.
1. Who can use Teach Playbook
Teach Playbook accounts are for coaches, parents, guardians and other authorized adults, and for players who are 13 or older. Children under 13 may use Teach Playbook only through access a parent or guardian provides and supervises, such as the parent’s own account. Children under 13 may not create their own account or provide personal information directly to Teach Playbook.
Parents, guardians and team administrators are responsible for supervising the access they provide to minors. If you’re under 18, use Teach Playbook with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
2. Your account
You sign in with your email address. Keep access to that inbox secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@teachplaybook.com if you think someone else has used it.
3. Teams and access codes
A team owner can invite coaches (who can add and edit the team’s plays) and viewers (who can watch them) by sharing access codes. Anyone with a code can join that team until the owner replaces it, so share codes only with people who should have access. Team owners are responsible for who they invite and for removing people who shouldn’t have access. Team owners also manage the team’s Team pass (see section 7).
During early access, we may set reasonable limits on the number of teams, members, plays, uploads or other resources associated with an account or team. Current limits are shown in the service.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the plays, notes and other content you create or upload. You give us a limited permission to store, display, copy and process that content only as needed to run Teach Playbook for you and the people you share it with.
When you add content to a team’s playbook, you also give that team permission to keep using, editing and storing it as part of its playbook, including after you leave the team.
Only upload content you have the right to share, and nothing that is illegal, harmful or harassing or that infringes someone else’s rights. Don’t upload photos, videos, health information, home addresses, phone numbers or other unnecessary personal information about children. Identify players by position or jersey number rather than full names.
Importing a playbook (beta). Only import playbooks you wrote or have the right to use for your team, such as one you bought for your own team’s use. Imported plays are converted automatically and may contain mistakes, so check each play before you save it; you’re responsible for the plays you save. Importing comes with a Team pass and includes up to 100 imported plays per team each pass year. We may change this allowance, or pause importing for a while, to keep it working well for everyone; if you need more, email support@teachplaybook.com.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse Teach Playbook. In particular, don’t:
- try to bypass sign-in, access codes or other security or access controls;
- try to access, probe or collect other users’ teams, accounts or data;
- scrape the service or access it with automated tools, other than an ordinary web browser;
- upload malicious code, or disrupt or overload the service;
- use Teach Playbook to send spam or to harass anyone;
- reverse engineer, decompile or otherwise try to work out the source code, algorithms or simulation logic behind Teach Playbook, including by systematically running plays through it to reproduce how it behaves;
- use Teach Playbook, or the animations and results it produces, to build or improve a competing product, or to train or test an artificial intelligence or machine-learning model;
- get around or deliberately overload our limits on how often the service can be used.
We may remove content, or suspend or close access, when these terms are materially violated or when it’s reasonably necessary to protect Teach Playbook, its users or other people.
6. Plays and simulations are teaching aids
Teach Playbook helps you draw, animate and explain plays. The animations are simplified models of how a play might unfold, not predictions of real games. Simulation outcomes depend on the assignments, settings and assumptions you choose. Nothing in Teach Playbook is professional coaching, medical or safety advice. You’re responsible for coaching safely, following your league’s rules, and making sure players are properly supervised, equipped and ready to play.
7. Team passes and payment
The Team pass. Teach Playbook is paid for per team. A Team pass covers one team and its coaches and families for 12 months from the day it’s bought. The price is shown in the app before you buy.
Free trial. A new team gets a free trial: 14 days for an owner’s first team, and 3 days for an owner’s later teams. No payment details are needed for a trial.
Who pays. Only a team’s owners can buy or renew its pass. The pass belongs to the team, not the person who paid for it: if the team changes hands, the paid time stays with the team.
Automatic renewal. When you buy a pass, you can choose to have it renew automatically. If you do, it renews every year on the date you bought it, at the price then in effect for your team, and your payment method is charged each year until you turn renewal off. The person paying gets an email before each automatic renewal. You can turn renewal off at any time, in the app (Manage billing) or from your Link account, and the pass keeps working until the end of the time already paid for. If the person paying for a team’s renewal stops being an owner of that team, automatic renewal is turned off. If you paid for one year only, you can turn on automatic renewal later; the first renewal is the day your current pass ends.
Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe and sold through Link, Stripe’s checkout service, which acts as the seller of record; Link’s terms also apply to your purchase. Your card statement will show the charge from Link (“LINK.COM*”) with Teach Playbook’s name. Sales tax is added where it applies. We never see or store your full card number.
Refunds. If you’re not happy, email support@teachplaybook.com within 14 days of any charge, including an automatic renewal, for a full refund. A refunded pass becomes read-only when the refund is processed, with no 7-day grace period.
When a trial or pass ends. When a free trial ends, or 7 days after a paid pass ends, the team’s playbook becomes read-only: everyone on the team can still open and run its plays, but nothing can be saved, added or shared until an owner buys a pass. We keep a read-only playbook for at least 12 months after its trial or pass ends, and we’ll email the team’s owners before removing anything.
Founding discount. Teams that buy their first pass while our founding offer is open (its end date is shown in the app and on our website) are founding teams: 35% off the standard price for as long as the team keeps renewing without a break and we offer the Team pass. The person who pays for a founding team becomes a founding coach and gets 35% off other teams they pay for. One person gets the founding price on up to 3 teams at a time, counting founding teams they paid for; additional teams are at the standard price. Discounts don’t combine, except referral credit.
Referral codes. Each team has a referral code that anyone on it can share. A new team that pays with it gets 20% off its first year (or the founding discount, if that’s better). The referring team gets 20% off its own next renewal (or its next Team pass, if it pays one year at a time) for each new team that uses its code and stays paid past 14 days, up to 100% of that payment. Referral credit isn’t cash, can’t be transferred, and doesn’t carry over to later years. A code can’t be used by someone paying who is an owner of the team that shared it. We may cancel credit earned through misuse.
Price changes. We may change the standard price. A change applies to a team only at its next purchase or renewal, and we’ll email the team’s owners at least 30 days before a renewal at a higher price.
8. Changes to the service and to these terms
Teach Playbook is in early access, and features may be added, changed or removed as it develops.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we’ll let you know by email or on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using Teach Playbook after updated terms take effect, you accept them.
9. Warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability
We work to keep Teach Playbook running and your data safe, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Teach Playbook is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you haven’t paid anything.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranty exclusions or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Teach Playbook at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@teachplaybook.com. Content you added to a team’s playbook stays available to that team. Personal content associated only with your account is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a team’s automatic renewal that someone else pays for, and doesn’t refund a pass outside the refund window in section 7.
11. Teach Playbook
Teach Playbook and its software, including its play simulation engine, design, branding and other service materials belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you permission to use the service; they don’t transfer ownership of Teach Playbook or its technology to you. You may not copy, sell, redistribute or commercially exploit the service itself except as the law allows or with our permission.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
